When times get tough…

If you nearly finished building a house only to discover that it would be gone the next day, what would you do? Granted, this is not an easy thing to deal with, but something similar just happened to one of the top internet marketers, Mia Davies.  Her first youtube account had somewhere between 700-800 subscribers and was shut down not too long ago.  Today, I discovered it happened yet again!  You can find out more about her situation here.

Certainly, when this kind of thing happens, especially when you’re generating money via youtube, what are you gonna do?  It’s tempting to get frustrated and angry.  This kind of situation certainly isn’t fun, but upon learning about it, I posted a response on her blog which I think is worth sharing here as a lot of people tend to let their circumstances control them.

————————————————————————
Hi Mia,

It is unfortunate that your YouTube channel was shut down twice. But, rather than focusing on how terrible youtube/google is (thereby being in a position of blame/victimhood), I highly encourage you to step back into your power, and shift your focus by repeatedly asking empowering questions like:

“What would it take for this situation to be fun, phenomenal, and rewarding?”
“What is right about this that I’m not getting?”
“What other amazing opportunities are available to me that I’m not aware of?”
“What would it take for me to be more resourceful?”
“How is this a good thing?”

The key is to stay in the question (literally). Ask them to yourself like mantras without expecting an answer, and you’ll be surprised with how much more resourceful you feel as well as new insights that you may not have been aware of before.

Hope this helps!

-Jason

I’m reminded of these wise words from T. Harv Eker, “Rich people are bigger than their problemsPoor people are smaller than their problems.“  I suspect she may have already adapted to her situation, seeing how she clearly has a track record of success, but the above comments contain some really useful gems, which I wish I knew of years ago.  Hopefully, she’ll use them to her advantage.

Having said that, I now ask you: Are you bigger or smaller than your problems?

Will you continue to let your circumstances control your finances, or will you take control?

Better Than Affirmations

If you’ve ever used affirmations, chances are you haven’t made much success with them.  For example, if you say to yourself, “I feel great!” or “I’m ABSOLUTELY confident!” you’ll feel like it’s a lie.  It’s like there’s a part of you that’s basically saying, “No, you’re not!”

So, how does one get around this?  I have two quick solutions.

FIRST SOLUTION – Take your affirmation and turn it into an intention.  Here’s an example:

“I am great!” >>>>  “I intend to be great!”

“I’m absolutely confident!” >>>> “I intend to be absolutely confident!”

Why does this work?  Because you’re placing an intention upon the statement which you may not initially believe.  Thus, it bypasses any resistance attached to the original affirmation.

SECOND SOLUTION – Turn it into an empowering question:

“I am great!” >>>>  What would it take for my life to be great?”

“I’m absolutely confident!” >>>> What would it take for me to be absolutely confident?”

As simple as this may seem, the presupposition is what makes it so powerful as it’s embedded within the question.  The question literally forces an answer, since questions direct focus.  Additionally, the questions suggest there is a way for you to feel confident!

So, instead of using affirmations, use either of the two and repeat them endlessly.  I prefer the latter method, as it opens up more possibilities, but both work.  The key is to just do them repeatedly!

Be A Leader, Not A Sales Pitcher

Lately, I’ve been getting several messages on Facebook which basically explained why their network marketing businesses are the best in the world.  And I couldn’t help but think, “Wow…..I feel sorry for these guys”.  They have no idea that they’re literally hurting themselves.Anyone who wants to be successful at online marketing needs to know this:

“Nobody who bought a drill actually wanted a drill, they wanted a hole. Therefore, if you want to sell drills, you should advertise information about making holes, NOT information about drills” – Perry Marshall

Let’s be real:  Network marketing is not so much about the products they sell, it’s about the business which can provide the dream life that people long for!

Having said that, just a moment ago, I did a little Google search for ‘work from home‘, to show the difference between being a sales pitcher and a leader.  So here’s a Google Ad I saw:

Best Work from Home Jobs
Earn $300 – $1,500 per Day at Home!
No Experience Required – Start Now
www.TheWrongWay.com

And here’s another:

Work from Home – $400/Day
Earn $400/day Working from Home!
No Experience Required. Start Today
www.AnotherWrongWay.com

There are tons of virtually identical advertisements that say this exact same thing!  So which one would you choose?  How about the one that stands out?Now consider this advert that I just typed up:

Work from Home? Beware!
Urgent Insider Report Reveals The
Dangers Of Working from Home!
www.TheBetterWay.com

What is the difference? If this is what your ad looked like it shows that you know something more than just what the sales pitchers are saying.  It subconsciously reveals to the buyer that you are a leader which sets you apart from the rest of the crowd! Thus, the buyer would likely click on the link to read the report, and that would naturally brand you as a leader in your particular industry since you are offering free information that no one else is providing.  By this point, the selling is done almost automatically!   Be a leader, not a sales pitcher!

Which Of These Statements Are True For You?

1. You say to yourself, “I don’t have enough of this”, “There isn’t enough of this”

2. Your point of view and outlook on life are governed by the fear of not having enough money

3. Your buying practices are determined by lack (i.e. “It costs too much”, “I can’t afford it”)

4. Your number one source of stress is money.  Your thoughts and emotions reflect this idea: ”I don’t have enough money”

5. You stay in a career that you hate because you’re afraid that you can’t get a better job.

6. You do work that you don’t enjoy but you do it just to get by.

7. You are afraid of losing what you have.

8. You abandoned your dreams and are afraid of taking any chances with your money.

9. You resent rich people who have fancy cars, clothes, and homes.  Or you have a difficult time being genuinely happy about other people’s success.

10. Money is often the sources of resentment, unhappiness, struggle, hostility, and fighting.

Reality check: If even one of these are true for you, it means…

You Have A Scarcity Mindset!

In other words, all of the above indicate poverty consciousness.  If this is a shock to you, take a good look at yourself and notice how you learned to think about wealth and money from a poverty consciousness point of view.  Chances are, you learned a large majority of these ideas from your parents as you were growing up.

The fact is, you have been conditioned to believe all sorts of ideas and points of views that literally limit your wealth.  From the time we are born all the way to age 12, we were all literally hypnotized to believe whatever we were told, so we never really learned to question our reality until around age 13.  Are you willing to question your own thoughts and emotions about wealth?  Now, it may seem strange for some to think that wealth is based on the thoughts and emotions that you have, but let’s be real clear:

Thoughts lead to emotions which lead to behaviors (i.e. taking action!)

Merely changing one’s behaviors may not be easy if one’s thoughts and emotions are set towards the opposite behavior.  This explains why many people procrastinate.  Taking action for procrastinators literally feels difficult.  Moreover, not changing your emotions is a bit like playing an out-of-tune piano.  Even if you physically play the piano perfectly, it will still sound terrible due to it being out of tune.  The key is to re-tune the piano and condition the strings to stay the right way.  That’s not to say that one shouldn’t take action, rather by changing your poverty consciousness into prosperity consciousness, wealth building actions become significantly easier and seemingly effortless.  In fact, it often becomes enjoyable!

Thus, if you are looking to generate wealth, then change your mindset!  Get out of poverty consciousness, because it is literally dictating your life.  If you are determined to live a life of freedom, joy, and abundance, and if you look forward to leaving a wonderful legacy for your children, then do whatever it takes to shift your thoughts and feelings about money.

Here’s a simple, yet POWERFUL tool to shift your poverty mindset.

If you ever say to yourself, “I can’t afford this”, ask yourself this question REPEATEDLY (like a mantra), “What would it take for this to show up in my life?” regardless of the emotions you may feel. You’ll be surprised about the endless possibilities that are actually available to you.

If you ever say, “It’s so hard to make money” counter it by asking, “What would it take for making money to be fun, phenomenal and rewarding?” (again, do it repeatedly like a mantra).

Do this WITHOUT trying to answer it.  Just keep asking until you get to a point where you feel much more comfortable about that particular issue.  By that point, an answer (or perhaps several) will have come to you seemingly automatically.

This simple tool will shift your focus out of scarcity and into prosperity because the empowering question is like manually retuning a piano.  Now that I gave you a powerful tool…

You Have An Opportunity To Take Back Your Life!

I encourage you to question your beliefs, thoughts, and feelings because the truth is you have the choice to live your life instead of living someone else’s life.  So what do you choose?
